Faith & Life Forum

The weekly Faith and Life Forum is a space for learning and lively conversation about diverse themes and questions: What does it mean to be a person of faith in the modern world? What does it mean to be Christian? How do we understand Christian traditions, scriptures, and theologies, and how do these things speak to our lives today? Whether you come with deep roots in the faith, questions of your own, or are simply curious, all are warmly invited to join our conversation.

This fall, the Forum will focus on the relationship between the arts and the sacred, exploring how music, images, literature, and other creative practices help us to encounter, express, and wrestle with the holy. Our discussions will draw on works from a wide range of times and places, as well as guest speakers from across the church and University community. All are welcome.

The Sept. 20 session titled The Sermon as Literature will feature guest speaker Eli Hardwig MDiv '26. 

Eli graduated from Harvard Divinity School in May of 2026, where he studied religion and literature and wrote a thesis on the novels of George Eliot. His current research focuses on the history of the sermon as a literary form, with an emphasis on the nineteenth century. He also works as an aide at the Perkins School for the Blind and preaches at King's Chapel, a historic Unitarian congregation in Boston.
