Students from all Harvard schools are invited to audition for the Harvard University Choir.

To audition, we ask that you prepare a short piece (a solo work if you have one, but a hymn tune or “Happy Birthday” will do as well) for our preliminary audition; you’ll also be asked to do some range testing and sightreading. There's no need to sign up for a time slot, just show up any time during preliminary auditions. All auditions are held in the Choir Room of Memorial Church (ground level).

• Sunday, September 2, 2-4 pm
• Tuesday, September 4, 2-4 pm
• Wednesday, September 5, 2-4 pm
• Thursday, September 6, 2-4 pm

As a part of your audition, we ask that you attend:

Open Rehearsal — All auditionees are asked to attend the Open Rehearsal on Thursday, September 6th, 5-6 pm, in the Choir Room of the Memorial Church (ground level).

Callback Service (invitational) —We will invite some auditionees to attend our Sunday Service on Sunday, September 9th, from 9:30am-12:30pm, and we will hold callback quartet auditions that afternoon. You will be asked to sing your part from one of the pieces that morning with each of the other three voice parts.

Other Events

There are also a few optional events that we strongly encourage you to attend to learn more about the choir and meet members of the choir:

Fellows Sunday —We strongly encourage auditionees to come hear the Choral Fellows, a 16-member subset of UChoir, sing at Sunday Service on Sunday, September 2nd from 11am-12:30pm. The service is held in Memorial Church.

Tea Time —To learn more about UChoir and talk to current members, join us for snacks and conversation at tea-time on Thursday, September 6th from 4-5pm in the Student Oasis of the Memorial Church (ground level).

Compline —You are also invited to attend our Compline Service on Thursday, September 6th, from 9-9:30pm, in Appleton Chapel of Memorial Church. This candlelit service is a great way to relax at the end of the day, and happens once a month.
