**Theologies, Perspectives, and Stories:** The Memorial Church for a week of Morning Prayers services explores LGBTQ+-affirming theologies, queer concepts of the divine, and stories of queer folks of faith from around campus.

### **Aidan Scully '25**
Harvard College.

*"That passage from the Symposium that I opened with is about two men, two men whose love for each other is too deep to describe. Our species has always known that love is what brings us closer to the divine, and our species has never understood love as just something for one man to share with one woman. We are not that narrow. We never have been."*

### **Alta Mauro PhD**
Associate Dean for Inclusion and Belonging, Harvard College.

*"Imagine knowing that Jesus was coming to your house, coming to the home where you laid your head every night and busied about each day. Imagine too, knowing as Martha must have, that you would be judged by how gracefully you welcome both strangers and your savior into your humble home. Side glances at the way the house is kept up or not. The quality and quantity of the food, the way it is served, how quickly the dishes are cleared and cleaned. This is indeed a Martha world."*

### **Shir Lovett-Graff MTS III**
Harvard Divinity School

*"As a trans and queer person, navigating my own boundaries between private and public identity can feel challenging. Within queer communities, I feel more flexible about my clothing, my pronouns, and even my name, because I trust that people will see me the way I'm asking to be seen. My queer loved ones do not need the guideposts of binders and they/them pronouns to see the map of my existence. In the privacy of my room, the rules that guide public trans expression disappear completely, and I'm queen of my domain. But in public, queer and trans people are constantly forced to choose markers of identity that stake our claim in the cis realm of existence."*

### **Alexa Albanese**
Administrative Assistant to the Director – Office for the Arts at Harvard

*"My dream is for any person of faith to feel validated by that faith, and know how eternally loved and appreciated they are: exactly as they are. So, if that's God's way of calling me to save a lot of souls, then that is exactly what I intend to do."*

### **Juan Duran MDiv II**
Harvard Divinity School

*"Being queer is a journey with many occasions of joy, compassion, and most certainly, love. But also, being queer is tiring. That is a part that I feel we leave out of the pride speeches, out of social media posts, out of our classrooms. Being queer can be an exhausting and painful experience as well."*
