12 Days of Carols: Day 4

Harvard University Choir's 12 Days of Carols: Convidando está la noche. The 106th Annual Christmas Carol Service filmed in December of 2015 at the Harvard Memorial Church.

Get into the holiday spirit! Starting on Dec. 1 through Dec. 12, the Memorial Church will release a new video every day from last year's 106th Annual Christmas Carol Service.

The Annual Christmas Carol Service, sung by the Harvard University Choir, is America’s oldest carol service. In 1910, the newly appointed University and Choirmaster, Archibald T. Davison, and Plummer Professor of Christian Morals, Edward C. Moore, devised the first annual Christmas Carol Service for Harvard University. The liturgy they prepared has remained virtually unchanged since: three lessons from scripture, interspersed with choral and congregational carols, beginning with “Adeste, fideles” sung in Latin. Over a century later, this service continues to be a cherished part of the festive season for the Harvard and Cambridge communities.

This year, the 107th Annual Christmas Carol Services will be held on Sunday, Dec. 11 and Tuesday, Dec 13 at 7:30 p.m. in St. Paul Church, Harvard Square. (The Memorial Church is currently undergoing a renovation).
